This northeastern region of Italy is home to Venice, one of the most popular vacation destinations in the country. Its rich history, architecture, art and culture make it especially appealing. But there is a whole world outside of Venice especially as it pertains to wine. Wines, such as Soave, Valpolicella and Amarone not to mention Prosecco all come from this region. There are about 78,200 hectares (193,236 acres) under vine, producing 9 million hectoliters per year.
